Black Members Group

As black members in UNISON we work together to win positive change in the workplace. The more of us that are actively involved the stronger we become. The stronger we are the more positive change we can achieve.

Welcome to the Westminster UNISON BMG Mini-Site

We believe that equality is not just an aspiration but an achievable goal, and that everyone should be treated fairly with respect and dignity at work. We have been established to negotiate workplace policies that are fair to all, and to campaign against all forms of discrimination and inequality. We are here to represent the views of our members and to act as a support network to aid each individual in their development.

Like any organization we thrive on the support and fresh ideas of our members. We are all well aware of the current economic situation, with the ever pressing threat of redundancy, redefining of job roles, salary freezes, additional duties; and much more. We understand the increasing need to support, assist and aid staff now more than ever. It is only through your active involvement and participation that we can go from strength to strength. So please do contact us for further information.

Why Join BMG?

BME workers and BME activism has a critical and important role to play in challenging injustice and inequality. Energizing and supporting networks for BME workers will provide its members with an opportunity to participate in critical discussions on race equality, pay negotiations, health and safety and many other issues. Together and through solidarity we can effect social change, challenge unjust practices and the inequality of treatment which ultimately will lead to better working conditions for all.
